Almost all international travellers are amazed for the Japanese convenience store (we call “conveni”) and we Japanese who live overseas also be surprised every time we go back to Japan.
Japanese conveni is my first place to go when I go back to Japan every time.
1. Real “Convenience”! What can you do in the Conveni?

A bunch of drinks and food are waiting for you at all conveni!
There are not only water, coke, and energy drinks, but also much more various kinds of drinks!
The amazing point is that you can purchase alcohols at conveni! Even if you are so tired after your work then want to drink beer, it’s easy to access at almost all conveni! Beer, wine, Japanese cocktail, Japanese sake, almost all types of alcohols can be purchased.
Just in case, do not forget to bring your passport as you may required to present your ID to purchase alcohols. (In Japan, you must be more than 20 years old for consuming alcohols.)
Food range won’t bother you! Especially a lot of kinds of breads are attracting your hungriness. Many taste bread options make your conveni shopping much more fun!
<Bill payment>
Most bills can be paid automatically by setting up bank account or credit card. However, some people prefer payment directly by person to person or pay by cash.
Once they receive the bill, they go to any conveni for the bill payment.
Almost all conveni cash register machines have the function to read the bill content by scanning barcodes. You can pay electricity, gas, phone, internet, and so on.
<Courier service>
Most conveni are working with courier companies so you can send parcels. However, international courier may be unavailable at conveni.
<Christmas cake, party foods available>
Booking may be essential, but if you want, you can order Christmas cake and party food. Also, any cultural cuisine can be available to buy like New Year season food (Osechi).
