Yunohana-Wadoh

The word of “Wadoh (和銅)” means “Wadoh Kaichin (or “Kaiho”), the oldest money currency in Japan.  This Ryokan accommodation Yunohana-Wadoh is located near Wadoh antiquity shrine, Hijiri-Shrine (approximately 1.5km). 

This ryokan’s hot bath KOSEN (Mineral spring hot bath) is known as the history that this bath is like a medicine hot water to heal wound once upon a time.

Hijiri Shirine

There is a history that economic fortune god has been enshrined so a lot of people are visiting this shrine from all over the Japan.

In 708, coppers were found in Chichibu then it was brought to the imperial court. After that, the first Japanese currency “Wadoh Kaichin (Kaiho)” was made of the coppers . 

When the coppers were brought yo the imperial court, the name of era was set as “Wadoh-Gannen” (1st year of Wadoh). At that time, the God of Copper was moved to this area and Hijiri Shine was bulit.
