1. About JET Programme
This programme is to invite young non-Japanese people from overseas and they experience cross-cultural communication with Japanese students and teach them English in Japan, especially at primary and secondary public schools. Currently there are more than 75,000 young people, from over 77 countries are joining this programme.
Most of them are working as ALT (Assistant Language Teacher). When I was in secondary school, once a week I had a chance to see the ALT teacher from Australia.
In addition to ALT, there are other positions as Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) and Sports Exchange Advisor (SEA).
CIR belongs to a local government organization and work for organizing any international communication events.
SEA works for teaching sports as the specialist.

Qualification
・You are interested in Japan and keen to learn anything about Japan
・You must hold more than university degrees by the date you go to Japan with JET Programme.
・You must be non-Japanese nationality.
・You haven’t been staying at Japan more than 6 years in the recent 10 years since you apply for this programme.
What you can do in JET
・You can stay and work as JET programme for 1 year from the next day you arrive in Japan. But depending on organization you belong to, you may be able to stay up to 3 years or 5 years.
・Work time: approximately 35 hours per week. Basically Monday – Friday, but sometimes you need to work weekends.
・Average salary for JET Programme work is 3.30 million yen per year.
