Mitsumine Shrine
If you would like to go deeper Chichibu, let’s go to the last stop of Chichibu railway, Mitsumineguchi station! This station has launched since 1930 then the historical atmosphere of station building is still there.
SL (Steam Locomotive) train starts from this Mitsumineguchi station! For booking, please enquire from here!
To go to Mitsumine Shrine is sort of adventure. It takes about more 1 hour to the shrine from Mitsumineguchi station by bus, located in deeper mountain.
When you arrive, you should feel like miracle-working.
In Edo period (1603 – 1868), wolves’ psychic power was believed and it was effective for avoiding any accidents in your life. The soul and belief are still in the Mitsumine shrine then a lot of people are visiting this shrine to devote their wish.

Open-toed or high heels are not allowed as they can be dangerous on the walk.

They are just in front of Mitsumineguchi Station, which is the last stop on Chichibu Railway line. All of the restaurants and cafes around here are like coming back to 50 years ago. Served cuisines make you feel rural home taste. It should be able to feel you relaxing.

・Chichibu Wine (Winery)
This winery has been launched since 1940. This was not famous at all just after World War Two, however, a French minister had an opportunity to taste the wine and he praised it as the taste of Bordeaux. Then after that, the wine sales are going up and the name of Chichibu wine is spreading out. This wine brand got the gold award 4 consecutive times in National Japan Wine Contest.
**If you stay at Mitsumieguchi area, it is strongly recommended to visit the winey by taxi or car.

・Amazake Festival
Amazake is a hot drink which is made from fermented rice, non-alcohol. This festival is held every July at Kumano Shrine. It is like super crazy festival and should be really exciting! Naked guys are splashing the Amazake each other! If you visit Chichibu in July, you shouldn’t miss the festival!
