1. 300 years history
As I mentioned in the preface, a roof made by thatch is really rare and important. This accommodation Suginoko is one of them.
Suginoko is located in Chichibi city, but formerly Arakawa village, approximately 10 minutes walking from Bushu-Nakagawa station in Chichibu Railway. (From Seibu-Chichibu, walk to Ohanabatake station and 10 minutes to the Bushu-Nakagawa station by the Chichibu Railway train.)
It is said in Saitama Prefecture, thatch roof accommodation is only this Suginoko.
If you go for a walk in the former Arakawa-village, you might be able to find the same roof house.
2. Only lunch or dinner booking available!
Suginoko is not like normal accommodation. Rather than an accommodation, similar to “rural homestay”. So the availability is really limited. Basically only 1 group every day can be booked and there are a lot of black out days.
Not only staying, but only lunch, or dinner services are also available.
You can enjoy local food used by nature mountain vegetables, soba (buckwheat noodle), nabe (hot pot), and so on!
Suginoko meals feel us like “at home” food. Even if you can’t stay, why not trying the rural local food!?
3. Book now!
Suginoko won’t show up expedia, booking.com, and other most of OTA reservations. We need to contact directly for al enquiries and bookings.
As I mentioned, Suginoko availabilities are very limited and seasonal. Meal bookings are the same.
